Holidays in Normandy

Normandy is highly regarded in France for the quality of its food. It has rolling hills and open pastures with a climate that is ideal for dairy farming with great butter, cheeses, apples and hence Cider and Calvados (an apple based brandy named after the area it is made).
Normandy is uniquely linked with England, not only in its proximity, but also its history. William (Guillaume) of Normandy was the last successful invader of England and his base of Rouen is one of the major interesting cities. The story of the invasion was depicted on the Bayeux tapestry and the Bayeux Tapestry Museum is high on the list of attractions. Top of the list has to be Mont St Michel the small picturesque island with the Gothic abbey that can only be reached by land at low tide.
Normandy is easily accessible from the UK with direct ferries to Le Havre in addition to other cross channel routes.
